I protected the page because it was becoming a mess. External links should be in a "See also" or "References" section, and some users were adding useless stuff. However, as there are some good contributions, you can just put here what you would like to add and then an admin can discuss such contribution here or directly add it in the main wiki page. i merged this article into the main install guide - noting that this article assumes the system is already installed before using for example `pacman -S base-openrc`; so im not sure what the original intention was - i think now we should re-work this page a bit to re-purpose it as a guide for migrating and existsing systemd system to openrc --bill-auger (talk) 13:32, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
1 Warning about group permissions

@edgar - WRT the recent changes youve made - you are probably adding more detail than necessary - the reason why there is no 'openrc-desktop' package is because those packages are now collected in several new package groups - 'lightdm-openrc' and those others like it are all in the 'init-displaymanager' froup now - so that group of commands you just added could simply be `# pacman -S 'init-displaymanager'` - the other packages you added are now in other groups 'openrc-system', 'openrc-galaxy', and 'openrc-world' --bill-auger (talk) 15:55, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

I quickly checked (e.g. pacman -Ss openrc-galaxy) and those package groups have a lot of members. I would not know what is the replacement for openrc-desktop, and installing lxdm-openrc did not get the results that I expected (there is no /etc/conf.d/xdm after installing that package). I thought that it would be better to leave the hints for those in need. Someone more knowledgeable should correct the page. I can add a section for "Login without display manager" if that's fine.
you can ignore or delete the parts that mention about 'openrc-desktop' - i plan to handle those in 'parabola'desktop', which is mentioned on the main install guide --bill-auger (talk) 17:24, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
